Software and Systems Integration
At Labtec Ltd, our Software and Systems Integration services help organisations achieve greater visibility, efficiency, and control across their operations. From design and development through to commissioning and support, we deliver tailored automation solutions that meet the demands of modern process environments.
Every successful project starts with a detailed Functional Design Specification (FDS). Developed in close collaboration with your team, this document defines system functionality, operational requirements, user interaction, and communication with connected assets. Establishing this foundation early ensures a clear, structured approach throughout the project lifecycle.
Our engineers create and implement reliable control software designed around your specific application, whether managing individual assets, coordinating multiple processes, or automating complex operational sequences. We integrate intuitive Human-Machine Interface (HMI) platforms that provide operators with real-time system control, alongside powerful SCADA solutions that enable monitoring, data collection, reporting, and remote access across entire facilities. During commissioning, every aspect of the installation, from instrumentation and communications through to control strategies and safety functions, is thoroughly tested and verified to ensure optimum performance. To support a smooth handover, we also provide comprehensive operator training, equipping personnel with the skills and confidence needed to operate the system effectively from the outset.
Whether modernising existing infrastructure or delivering a completely new installation, Labtec Ltd provides dependable software and systems integration solutions designed for long-term performance, flexibility, and future growth.
CAD Design & Draughting
Labtec provides professional CAD design and draughting services to support the delivery, refurbishment, and ongoing maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and process engineering projects. Using the latest AutoCAD software and proven industry standards, we create accurate, compliant, and fully developed drawings that support every stage of the asset lifecycle.
Our experienced team works closely with clients to produce a wide range of technical documentation, including electrical schematics, control panel arrangements, single line diagrams, P&IDs, cable schedules, installation drawings, and as-built records. Every drawing is developed with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and practical application in both construction and operational environments.
By adopting a collaborative approach, we ensure designs align with client specifications, operational requirements, and site standards, providing dependable engineering information that supports efficient project delivery and asset management.
Labtec also offers drawing conversion, redrafting, and document modernisation services, converting legacy drawings, scanned documents, and PDF records into fully editable AutoCAD files. This helps organisations maintain accurate engineering documentation, improve change control, simplify future modifications, and preserve valuable asset information for the long term.
Testing & Verification
Labtec provides comprehensive testing and verification services to ensure electrical, control, and instrumentation systems operate safely, reliably, and in accordance with project requirements. Our methodical approach combines technical expertise, detailed documentation, and robust quality control processes to deliver confidence at every stage of system delivery.
Workshop Testing & Validation
Before any equipment leaves our workshop, it undergoes a structured programme of inspection and testing. This includes electrical verification, functional testing, control system validation, and design compliance checks against project specifications. Identifying and resolving issues at this stage helps minimise site risks, reduce delays, and ensure a smoother installation process.
Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
Labtec works closely with clients to conduct Factory Acceptance Testing, allowing stakeholders to review system functionality and performance before deployment. FAT can be carried out on-site at our premises or remotely using online collaboration platforms, providing flexibility while maintaining full visibility of the testing process. Comprehensive test records and documented results provide assurance that agreed operational requirements have been achieved.
Site Verification & Operational Support
Following installation, our engineers can provide on-site testing and verification services to confirm that systems perform as intended within the operational environment. This includes integration testing, instrumentation validation, fault finding, performance checks, and system optimisation. Our support can be delivered as a standalone service or incorporated into a wider project package, depending on individual site requirements.
Proven Performance from Day One
From workshop testing and client acceptance through to site verification and operational support, Labtec delivers a complete testing and verification service designed to reduce risk, support compliance, and ensure systems perform efficiently and reliably from the moment they are placed into service.
Site Surveys & Scope Optimisation
Labtec believes successful projects start with a clear understanding of site conditions, operational requirements, and long-term objectives. By engaging early in the project lifecycle, we help clients define project scope, identify potential challenges, and develop practical solutions that improve efficiency, reduce risk, and deliver greater value from initial investment.
Our engineers carry out detailed site surveys to assess existing assets, installation environments, and operational constraints. This hands-on approach allows us to gather accurate information, validate design assumptions, and provide recommendations that support effective planning and smoother project execution.
We also undertake comprehensive reviews of electrical systems, control panels, instrumentation, and automation infrastructure, assessing factors such as compliance, condition, performance, maintainability, and future capacity. By identifying opportunities to upgrade, integrate, refurbish, or replace existing equipment, we help clients make informed decisions that maximise asset life while minimising disruption and unnecessary expenditure.
Building Strong Foundations for Project Success
Through detailed surveys, technical evaluations, and scope refinement, Labtec helps organisations develop practical, cost-effective solutions that improve project certainty, reduce delivery risks, and establish a solid foundation for successful implementation.
Harmonic Surveys & G5/5 Compliance
Labtec Ltd provides comprehensive harmonic surveys to help businesses assess and manage power quality issues in accordance with ENA Engineering Recommendation G5/5. As electrical networks increasingly rely on variable speed drives, inverters, EV charging infrastructure, UPS systems, solar PV and other power electronic equipment, harmonic distortion has become a critical consideration for both operational reliability and network compliance.
Our experienced engineers carry out pre-installation and post-installation harmonic assessments to establish existing network conditions and evaluate the impact of new or upgraded equipment. The survey process includes an assessment of supply transformers, identification of the Point of Common Coupling (PCC), review of single-line distribution systems, and evaluation of ancillary equipment such as power factor correction systems. Specialist power quality monitoring equipment is then installed to capture real-world operating data, providing an accurate picture of harmonic voltage distortion and harmonic current emissions across the site.
A harmonic survey provides valuable insight into the health of your electrical system and helps identify issues before they affect operations. Excessive harmonic levels can result in overheating of conductors and transformers, overloaded neutrals, nuisance tripping of circuit breakers, capacitor bank resonance, motor performance issues, equipment malfunction and premature failure of sensitive electronic devices. Using advanced analysis software, we assess recorded data against G5/5 planning levels and predict the impact of existing or proposed loads on network performance.
Following completion of the survey, you will receive a detailed report outlining measured harmonic levels, compliance status, potential risks and practical recommendations for mitigation where required. Whether validating a new installation, assessing the impact of additional loads, or investigating persistent power quality issues, Labtec Ltd provides the expertise needed to ensure your electrical system remains compliant, efficient and resilient. Contact our team today to discuss your G5/5 requirements and arrange a professional harmonic survey tailored to your site.
